Our core service provides support throughout all stages of a build process from concept design through to final sign off on site. This is particularly important for green builds where a contractor may need educating into the peculiarities of the methods and materials used. We manage all projects with a high degree of skill and professionality, and each project will be supervised by one of our directors or associates."
We can undertake condition and fabric surveys on any type of building. Gordon has extensive experience with Listed buildings and Scheduled Ancient Monuments. We also provide detailed measured surveys of buildings and land. As registered architects with a number of Church Diocese we regularly carry out inspections on their behalf. We can arrange all other surveys from our pool of skilled ecologists, archaeologists, arboreculturalists etc. "
As leaders in the field of sustaibable design we can provide specialist advice at any stage of your process. The earlier we are involved in the design, the deeper our ideas and knowledge can penetrate into your final solution. We are used to working with other architects and designers and can usually offer support and advice to complement their design process."
A feasibility study will bring together the three main tests of viability. Functionality, site and cost. The cost of such a study depends on the depth that we investigate, but we are skilled at identifying the key threats to development and focussing on the influence these may have on the project. This will usually involve preliminary discussions with the local planning authority and a cost consultant."
Self-builders often need some professional support at some stage, whether it is helping you to visualise your ideas, or to obtain a tricky planning consent. We have specialists who know how to tailor a service to your needs, and can arrange a package of services to suit."
Conserving and adapting our historic buildings is a specialist task. We have undertaken many restorations and adaptations and have developed good relations with the bodies, such as English Heritage, who influence the decisions you can make. We like to begin by getting to know the individual building and will usually produce a carefully considered biography of the building's development. We can then discuss an appropriate strategy for repair and alteration."
